• Give Me Anything by The Maine  -  Disapproved – Most reviewers felt this song had too many sexual allusions with lyrics such as:  "It's time to cut to the chase", "I'm trying everything to keep my hands off of you", "boys have their eyes all over you"
• Gotta Be Somebody by Nickelback – Disapproved – Some felt this had a sound too heavy for dances, but most felt the language was inappropriate: "damn it, this feels too right"
• The Call by Regina Spektor – Approved (unanimous)

Everythings Magic, Hot N Cold, Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop

Everything's Magic by Angels & Airwaves – Approved (Unanimous)

Hot N Cold by Katy Perry – DisApproved (Unanimous) "You PMS like a b***h, I would know"

Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg – Approved (Unanimous)

Vertigo, Viva La Vida, More than Words

Final Recommendation:

• Vertigo by U2 – Disapproved – The votes were split with most being “No”.  Some thought the lyrics had suggestive content, and others felt uncomfortable with the lyric "Girls with crimson nails has Jesus around her neck"
• Viva La Vida by Coldplay – Approved – unanimous
• More Than Words by Extreme – Disapproved -  This was a tough decision.  The votes were split evenly and the “No” votes felt very strongly that showing love with “more than words” is an allusion to sex.  (FYI, this had also been disapproved by a previous music committee)

One Step at a Time, Over my Head, Electable

Final recommendation:

• One Step at a Time by Jordin Sparks - Approved
• Over My Head by Fray - Approved
• Electable (Give It Up) by Jimmy Eat World - Approved

 

Ain't no Stressin, Alles Roger, Check Yes Juliet

Final recommendations:

• Ain't No Stressin' by Montana Tucker, Sikora & Denial – Disapproved – There was mixed voting on this with the “nos” coming out ahead.  Observations were that the beat is a little heavy, and club scene themes are inappropriate for a church dance.
• Alles Roger by Sportfreunde Stiller – Approved
• Check Yes Juliet by We the Kings – Approved - There was some concern about this song being about a guy trying to get a girl to run a away from home with him.

Circus, Constellations, Do you know

Final Recommendations:

• Circus by Brittney Spears – Disapproved – Strong sexual overtones, inappropriate message for church dances
• Constellations by Jack Johnson – Approved
• Do you know by Enrique Iglesias - Approved

Inside Your Heaven, Liar, Map of the Problematique

Final Recommendations:

• Inside Your Heaven by Carnie Underwood – Approved
• Liar by taking Back Sunday– Disapproved – We are split down the middle on this one with no strong Approval votes, so we are turning it down.   General comments were that it’s not a very upbeat song.
• Map of the Problematique by Muse – Approved – Only one dissenting vote due to a concern about moshing.  We’ll pull it from the dances if this is a problem.

Stockholm Syndrome, Unintended, When you look me in the eyes

Final recommendations:

• Stockholm Syndrome by Muse– Disapproved -  The votes were split on this one.  The general comment was that it is too harsh and downbeat for a church dance. 
• Unintended by Muse – Approved
• When you look me in the eyes by Jonas Brothers– Approved

Who Let Dogs Out, You Rock My World, Kiss Kiss

Final Recommendations

• Who Let the Dogs Out by Baha Men – Disapproved – Mostly "no" votes on this. Women are referred to as dogs - deemed disrespectful to women.
• You Rock My world by Michael Jackson – Approved – all yes votes
• Kiss Kiss by Chris Brown – Disapproved – all "no" votes, suggestive lyrics, beat and tone inappropriate for a church dance.

Crazy, Going On, Cobrastyle

Final recommendations

Crazy by Gnarls Barkley – Approved

• Going On by Gnarls Barkley – Approved
• Cobrastyle by The Teddybears – Disapproved – Unanimous “no” votes from the committee. Not uplifting, drug references. The word “Punahussy” is Hawaiian slang for a pot dealer.
